It is usually a place in which an individual or a family can rest and be able to store personal property. Most modern-day households contain sanitary facilities and a means of preparing food. Animals have their own homes as well, either living in the wild or in a domesticated environment. There are certain cultures in which members lack permanent homes, such as with nomadic people. GNU Free Documentation License What is the lifespan of the average home? Q. I live in a 1 1/2 storey home built in 1922. I have totally updated the home, (wiring, plumbing etc.). There has been some settling mainly on the second floor, not enough to prevent doors from closing. I purchased the home in 1999. I have not noticed any new settling since. I am wondering how long a lifespan a home built in 1922 has. I like my home but it is 84 years old. I will be entering retirement when this house turns 100. I maintain this home accordingly but I wonder if it is wise to have a 100 year old retirement home. I would appreciate some comments on my delima. Thank you. I have installed new furnaces in homes that are well over 100 years old, and house looked great after they updated everything. Working in many different aged homes, I've noticed back in the day they built houses to stand forever, now days they put the houses up as fast as they can and move on to the next one. Answered by HVAC Man - Sun Mar 5 15:48:49 2006 What percentage of a home does the average American home-owner own? Q. That is, if an average American home-owner were to appraise their home today what percent would they own in equity? More specifically, how much does this percent vary between different home-owner age brackets? And, considering this, what are the odds that the average American home-owner will ever pay off their mortgage? Sorry for the barrage of questions. It would seem that answers to these could be of value to those of us that are younger and hoping to set somewhat realistic, lifelong financial goals. Thanks! Added I totally agree with George G's assessment. People now want 40 year mortgages, nothing down, and even interest only for a few years. My home has been paid off for many years, I took on a 15 year mortgage with high interest rates and paid it off in 9 years. How? Because I could comfortably afford the house. Answered by Rebecca - Sat Jun 13 18:30:09 2009 How do you go about buying a new home when you currently own a home?
Q. My husband (25) and myself (27) had bought our first home (a nice townhouse) about three years ago. The townhouses in my area are already selling for about $30,000 more than what we had bought ours for. We just found this really nice ranch home we love, right across the street from my hubby's grandmother's home and my hubby actually knows the man who is selling it pretty well. Anyway, we're really interested in going ahead and purchasing this home. What are the steps to go about getting a new home. I remember how stressful it was to buy our first home - and that was half as bad, because we were just in an apartment before. So I'm really anxious and have no idea where to begin. Any advice? Thanks! By the way, our townhouse is not yet on the… [cont.] Asked by Cookie On My Mind - Wed May 30 16:02:13 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. It is possible to acquire a loan to buy that ranch house even though you currently own a home. You can finance it as a second or vacation home as long as you qualify for the loan. If you have equity in your home and want to use it as a down payment, then a bridge loan might be the answer. A bridge loan allows you to pull equity out of your existing house for the purposes of buying another house. Usually, the payments are escrowed so there are no out of pocket payments for 6 to 9 months. After that period the loan is due in full. What I suggest you do is sell the townhouse first before entering into a purchase contract or at least have a qualified buyer commit to buy your townhouse. I have seen this dream turn into a nightmare for so… [cont.] Answered by Qpid59 - Wed May 30 16:55:06 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Home"
